Perk Up Those Walls

Living in an apartment, we aren't allowed to paint the walls. Fortunately, the walls are not a bad neutral shade at all, in fact, I rather like it. But just because we can't paint doesn't mean the walls have to be boring. Enter wall decals...

We had a big empty wall space by our dining room table and I wanted something large and colorful to fill the space. Back in the fall, I found this fun wall decal online through a deal site and ordered it and paid just a few dollars for shipping. I call it our Banana Bird:

I love how it perks up the wall!

A few months later I stumbled upon a tube of wall decals at Home Goods in the clearance section. I couldn't pass up the cute little birds and at such a good price this chandelier found its home in our bedroom.

Ok, so maybe the chandelier is a little funny, but we like it. If we get tired of it we can just peel it off.
I found this tutorial a long time ago on making your own wall decals. I haven't tried it, but I love the idea. Let me know know if you try it!

Have you tried the decal-ing thing yet? Would be so cute with cut out letters -- spelling Julianna?? I'm going to try it soon if I have the right supplies.

I never knew you had that art work in your house . . . So fun.

I tried it with a scrap of fabric. We cut out little birds and stuck them to the wall. If you have shiny walls (my kitchen has to meet 'code' here, egh) they stick without ironing them on. Super cute idea.
